Heard VE6WZ working Euros one after another last night, but heard W0FLS
having trouble copying most of the same Euros plus repeating info and
only giving them 559s. Here in the southwest US desert paradise of DM24,
I saw all the Euros spotted on RBN but couldn't hear any of them. I know
that at sometime before around DL sunrise, W8KA over in AZ managed to
work F5NTL and signals were good enough that they exchanged names. He
may have worked a couple before I started listening to him. Shortly
after that, I thought I might have heard LY2M on one peak when he hit
539 but I never heard him again; it could have been an east coaster
signing from a QSO. The only other Euro I've copied this week was SM5EDX
and I haven't even seen him spotted for 3-4 days. Yes, the KL7s (both KY
and SB) were hearing, spotting and calling Europe for awhile, at least
an hour before DL sunrise. BTW, note that KL2A, who occasionally signs
portable 7 (KL2A/7) while CQing, is somewhere in W7-land, not KL7; the
RBN spots him all the time but still places him in Alaska even when he
signs KL2A/7. I read somewhere he's only running 100W to a sloping wire??
I was overcast with occasional rain all day (writing this right at
sunset), so did not get a full battery recharge after sitting waiting
for DU7ET this morning, whom I don't think ever came on although 9M2AX
was in there weakly for awhile (nobody worked him); thus, I won't be
running my amp much tonight, if at all, since I'm supposed to get even
more rain tomorrow so the batts will drain even further 8-( If the band
sounds GOOD, I'll maybe turn it on to try working someone or two (or
three?? hope springs eternal... 8-).
