LOOS has just introduced a new tensioner called a "Pro Model" that'll do
guy wire up to 3/8 inch; sounds like it's just what you need. Tower Tech
price is $129.00 and it's even easier to use than the smaller version. Using
the Model 90 (the one you looked at) to measure the slightly bigger guy wire
probably won't work because the channel that you hook onto the guy wire to
make the measurement may not take the bigger size wire.
You want to measure the tension from the EHS, not the Phillystran. The
figure from the LOOS has not been derived for direct Phillystran measurement.
BTW, I can rent one of the 0-10,000 pound Dillon tension dynamometer
locally for about $50.00 per day. You also need a cable grip and comealong
to take a reading and do your adjustments. Also figure about 15 minutes per
measurement. The LOOS instruments can give you a pretty accurate reading in
about 10 seconds.
