Hi Tom and all,

One quick observation.....

I have a 24' pipe, 1 1/2", mounted on a 4x4 post with about
40 radials. Each radial is about 40'.

I also have a DX77 mounted on the top of a tower at 37'.

On 30m there is a 3 S unit gain when using the ground mounted
vertical.

This is seen on the FT-1000MP.

On 40m and 20m, it is about 3 S units in favor of the DX77.

My guess is that on 30m the 24' pipe is full sized, non trapped
and much less loss.

On 40m and 20m, the 24' pipe is a very poor non resonant antenna
and has lots of loss!

(Both are fed with 75 ohm CATV drop line with no matching).
