Well, the center dialectric has to come up through the hole in the center.
Care must be taken that it doesn't shrink back into the cable, but it should
protrude slightly through the center hole. A lot of times, the center
dialectric will put back after you get the connector on. The guy says that
is a good source for leakage.
Also, I always assumed that the braid was cut off and the connector slipped
between the center dialectric and the braid. That is correct, but what the
cable guys do is to take the braide and fold it back over the black out
jacket and then push on the connector. When it is crimped, there is a
connection on the outside and inside of the connector. He says that is very
important to get a good connection on the braid...and now allow the center
dialectric to pull out of the center hole.
They used special cutters....and special connectors...not the crimp type
from Radio Shack. Remember, they have two kinds for RG59 and RG62. Use the
RG62 with the braid and foil shield.
