an early tip received from the late W3GRF was that you never put a hole in a
tube, its compromising of the tube's strength is unquestionable....I know
20-20 hindsight, me too!

You may wish to re-design the yagi with a tube over the existing center
section, which in turn mounts to a plate via u-bolts....
