You  DID wear heavy leather gloves during this process, didn't you? :-)

Before installing on the small insulators, I   < reform > the radius 
by  making a couple of twists, lay the round end on a piece of wood, 
holding the twisted ends, and applying a few taps from a rubber mallet.

Double guying with 5/16 guy wire? Did you build your hurricane shelter
at the tower  base yet?  It should still be there after your house is
blown
away!
