Ref the experiment to measure matched/unmatched transmission line loss:

The added loss caused by vswr has already been tested and documented in past
issues of the ARRL Handbook and Antenna Book. There are charts in thses
publications graphing added loss vs vswr vs line loss at 1:1 vswr. 

This would also be a fun project for the amateur computer programmer. By
setting up a loop to calculate forward power less line loss, less reflected
power, less line loss again, repeated until there is essentially no power
left, the total power delivered to the load could be accumulated and
displayed. Any takers out there?
