Bill, I would worry about the conductive goop forming a thin film across
the insulation between the shell and center conductor, leading to arcover.
I've never had any trouble with good quality UHF connectors as long as they
stayed tight and dry.

But apropos of this, I remember a few years ago reading about a chemical
that (it claimed) could be applied to switch contacts and connectors to
enhance the metal-to-metal connections but with no worry about affecting
inter-contact insulation.  Anyone know what I'm talking about and have any
idea whether it would be useful in  ham antenna installations?
