ON4UN uses a single elevated radial on 80 over his extensive 
non-resonant 160 meter radial system.

Mose elevated radial systems seem to work better with a "choke 
'balun'" to reduce ground currents on the shield.

It depends on what purpose the radials serve.  Elevated radials 
become part of the radiating antenna (see ON4UN page 11-55) and 
generally need to be tuned.

Elevated radials should be resonant.  They effect the resonant 
frequency and bandwidth of the system.
