Pat, many 86's have been replaced by the W2DU type choke balun with
excellent success. It is a low profile unit that is simply taped or
clamped to mast or boom. Standard model has 6" pigtails and a hooded
SO239. The "works" are enclosed in a UV resistant grey weatherproof PVC.
It is a lot neater than the coil of 213, either in a random bunch of
turns(often 9) or properly done in a perfect tight helix, 12" in
diameter.
