[TowerTalk] Tower problem (long)

Hello Gang,

   My name is Jerry and I'm located in southern Indiana near Louisville,
Ky.  I'am new to the list and have some questions.

  A couple of years ago I was given a tower.  I guess I should have known
then to beware of a free tower.

  It is primarily a tv antenna tower or sometimes called a cb tower
although their antennas can be quite large also.  The tower was not
designed for a big antenna array other than a large tv antenna.

  The tower only has horizontal bracing without any kind of "X" bracing of
any kind.  It is triangular tower and each side is about 10" wide and it is
about 18 1/2" between braces and each tower section is 10 ft.

  I put down roughly a yard of concrete or 3 ft. square cube and put one
section of tower in the hole and poured the concrete.

  My intention was of only going up 40 ft.  I put up 30 ft., guyed it with
rope in 3 places, and when we tried getting up the top section the tower
began to sway and "twist".  It felt and looked very unsafe.

  I have thought about guying it better and just going ahead with it but I
still feel overall that it is just too unsafe.

  If I took the tower down could I still use my concrete base with another
tower such as 25G?  I have heard  that concrete can be drilled and a base
can be put down using hydraulic cement in the holes?  Anyone done anything
like this?  I'am not looking to put up anything special, just trying to get
my A3 up about 40 ft. or so.
