I have an 80 Meter 4-square installed in a field of 50-80 foot fir trees and
it plays well.

I have installed a 40 meter 4 square in the same field, in two locations. It
would not play at all.

My theory is the trees in the area and close to the verticals are resonant
near 7 Mhz but are non-resonant and invisible on 3.5 Mhz.

A few of the trees in question are visible in the picture on the web page at
HTTP://members.aol.com/w7nn

I will be starting to install the 40 meter system next week in an adjacent
field with almost no trees.

I've never seen a study on resonant trees but maybe others have experience
with this area.
