  IMMHO ``N'' connectors are rated at 500 watts even at V/UHF frequencies
although some say MUCH more.  I have maintained several 100 watt T.V.
transmitters that have LOTS of ``N'' connectors in the output path,
with out any problems. (less than 70 average watts) (into 3" Heliax)
  I never use a ``N'' connector if I can get by with a PL-259/SO239,
because of the physical strength of the connector to cable.
  I use RG-8U foam or RG-214 etc. and a propane torch (quickly) and
when the outer vinyl jacket melts into the threads, there is some free strength.
And then there is the heavy shield soldering)
Dependable performance is a design criteria also.
