Learned the hard way: If you want to lock a bolt/nut you MUST use a jam nut.
The cost is peanuts and it works every time without fail. Even when bolting
big rotators to the rotor plate, a jam nut will prevent backout of the bolts.
In most cases, a longer bolt or a threaded stud will be needed but again, the
cost is next to nothing, no thread dope is needed and it can be removed with
regular wrenches. Try it, you will like it!
