If it really was NM-B, you will have problems with that line sometime soon,
because it isn't rated for direct burial, and lacks protection against
moisture.  I feel strongly about this because of direct experience with 220
feet of MB-B buried and powering a well pump.  As the plumber said while
the backhoe dug it up, "but I thought the "B" meant burial."  Needless to
say, he won't be back.

NM-B has a loose plastic jacket with the conductors insulated with a
paper-like material.  UF-B, which is rated for direct burial, has the
conductors encapsulated in a molded plastic insulating jacket that
surrounds and protects all the conductors.
