OK. I also use the AB Chance data. BTW I have been using screw in anchors on
a Rohn 25 tower 75 ft high with a 204BA and other 15 and 10 meter yagis. I
use the heavy anchors with the 66 inch shaft and 8 in disk. My towers are
guyed at 3 heights and at 120 degree anchor points. I've used this technique
for 30 years in Florida and Ga. and never had a problem.

I just received an updated Chance catalog in the mail today dated February
2000. The anchor I use is the 816. It has a 1 inch by 66 inch shaft with a
single 8 inch disk. It is rated as follows:

Class 5 soil Class 6 soil Class 7 soil
11000 lbs 9000 lbs 6000 lbs

Class 5 soil is "Medium dense coarse sands and sandy gravel's; stiff to very
stiff silts and clays".

Class 6 soil is "Loose to medium dense fine to coarse sands to stiff clays
and silts"

Class 7 soil is "Loose fine sands; Alluvium; medium - stiff and varied clays;
fill.

As you can see, using this anchor, AB Chance rates it higher than the 3/16
EHS guy wire.

Although difficult, I was able the screw in the anchors myself using a long
pipe for leverage and starting with a shovel.

I hope this helps.
