[TowerTalk] Wireless Rotor Controls & Other Wireless Questions

I have been looking for ways to minimize the cable runs from the
tower, and other supports, to the radio room. The hassle and cost
for lightning-protecting everything quickly becomes prohibitive.

I have a couple of ideas but would sure appreciate the collective
wisdom here on the list. (I am told this may be fresh material for
the fertile minds here.)

1. Could I use a sub-QRP fixed-frequency transceiver, perhaps on 900
or 1200 mhz to deliver rotor control signals to the rotor, and to return
position signals? (Either modify something currently available for another
purpose or homebrew? Seems there is authorization on such bands for
cordless phones, "Rabbit Multipliers", wireless headsets, etc. so this would
seem to fit legally. I expect some challenges with weatherizing and RF-
proofing. I have friends who do stuff at the 10gig level, perhaps they
could rig something way up there!)

2. If I put a TV antenna on the tower, or a 30 foot telescoping mast,
could I use a device like the 900mhz "Rabbit Multiplier" to get the TV
signal into the house without another cable that I would then have to
route, Polyphaser protect, etc.? (again, I understand the need to
weatherize and RF protect since it would share the tower with HF or
VHF antennas)

Note: The line-of-sight distance would be about 75-100 feet without
obstructions, other than the radio room wall.

Please be gentle with me, this is at a very primitive idea stage ...
something we Hams sometimes like to have fun with.
