I'm not sure where the arguments in favor of clamps are coming from,
as I don't find them in my inbox... de N4KG

FWIW, here are my arguments AGAINST using cable clamps:

1 - Clamps need to be installed and tightened properly
(don't saddle a 'dead horse', alternate sides at least twice,
preferably more, do NOT over tighten, SERVE the ends,
	 What a PAIN ! )

2 - Cable Clamps work loose over time / temperature variations.
(How do you re-tighten the clamps at each insulator in your
guys? Clamps should be retightened every spring.)

3 - Guy wire can (WILL) pull through only two cable clamps.
(I have seen two tower failures due to guys pulling
	through cable clamps.)

4 - I have NEVER seen a tower failure due to a guy grip failure.

p.s. I've been using guy grips ever since W1EVT showed them
to me in 1971. Clem used them on all 19 of his 140 ft
R25 towers used to support his half-wave dipoles stacked
every half-wavelength in three directions on each of 5 bands.
This impressive antenna system still resides on top of a hill
	in Eastern Mass.
