Hi All,
It seems likely to me that Rohn, just as many other long time
manufacturers, discerns, as time goes on, better and more satisfactory
methods of accomplishing things. Even i, a person with no tower
experience before the past year, recognized the wisdom in using thimbles
at both ends, as well as a guy bracket at an intermediate point. It can
be tempting to try to save money, even in tower building. But, what have
you accomplished if in so doing, you endanger the long term survivability
of the project? I will try to understand the why and wherefor, but i will
not second guess the tower manufacturer. BTW, i think there may be a time
and place where cable clamps are preferrable over "preforms." At the
tower end of the wire, when broken guys are dictated(insulators) and you
want to minimize the length of the wire attached to the tower, and thus
the loading that these capacity hats represents.
