For most horizontal antenna installations, moving to NEC-4 is not
necessary. However, as you note, the 500-segment limitation of standard
EZNEC does limit the type of modeling that can be done. The key is
getting access to more segments.

There are two routes to solution. One is to purchased a "Pro" version of
EZNEC--which is available for NEC-2 without the cost of licensure for
NEC-4. It will handle 3,000 segments with no problems. The other route,
at less cost is to try NEC-Win Plus, which has a 9,999 segment
limit. However, your would have to deal with a package having a different
"feel" from EZNEC. However, the NW folks have a tiny onject synthsizer in
the present package and are working on a larger version as an adjunct to
the program.

By all means check out the web sites of the respective software makers for
more details and visuals of how each package looks and feels and what
detailed facilities are offered by each. THe first entry at my website
under modeling has links to the main software sites available in NEC-type
modeling.
