That is considered to be a "Concealed Damage Claim", Save the packaging and
call the carrier and ask for the
claims manager.  Follow up with a letter with carrier name and bill of
lading number and date.  Let them know
that you are filing a CONCEALED DAMAGE CLAIM.  Ask the claims manager for an
inspection in the letter and
when you call.  Copy all correspondence to the shipper, Letters, bill of
Lading and any witness statements which must
be attested, and the original invoice of the product.   Ask the carrier for
a copy of their rules section on CONCEALED
DAMAGE CLAIMS.

You may get satisfaction in 60 to 90 days depending on the carrier and their
claims policy.
