WD-40 works great on aluminum. I use it all the time. As a matter
of fact, hole saws plug up an gaul the metal with WD-40.

It also works great on taps.

Transmission fluid works great on most other materials. I keep it in
a pump-type oil can to squirt on the bits and saws.
