[TowerTalk] Trouble shooting HF6V

Hello All
I had a lightning strike at my QTH awhile back. It seems that all that was
damaged was the antenna system, The coax was disconnected from the shack.
I have replaced all the coax from the shack to the Butternut HV6V vertical
but I still have problems with high swr at the antenna. I can't see any
damage to the antenna and all I can figure out that be wrong is that one or
several of the door knob capacitors are shot. So how do I test the
capacitors? All I have for test equipment is an MFJ 259B and a analog volt
ohm meter.
Another thing that puzzles me is that the high swr is on all bands. I
thought that the capacitors were not used for the 10 and 15 meter bands but
just the lower ones.
I was hoping to have this fixed in time for the ARRL 10 meter contest but it
looks like I am going to have to put up a dipole for the contest. Any
suggestions on the best direction to run the dipole for this contest for a
station in Texas? I have plenty of room out here for the dipole but not any
supports. I am planning on putting it up on a Radio Shack 35 ft push up pole
and errect the dipole in an inverted vee configuration.
Thanks & 73
Rick
