Very eloquently put, Mauri. When are people going to learn that you do not 
get something for nothing? The raison d'etre of a wide spectrum LP is that 
it covers a wide spectrum but, then, so does a 50 ohm load.

In his book in 1986, and the Ham Radio magazine articles that preceded it, 
Jim Lawson concluded that for yagis, 'Maximum gain increases, but not 
steadily, with boom length.' In the case of an LP read 'active boom 
length'... and that is usually short.
