The difference between W0SYK and real Big Bertha is that real Bertha used
swaged pipe, W0SYK used some spacers I believe. The pipe diameters do not fit
like aluminum tubing we can get for antennas, there are steps between various
diameters and there is need for swaging or using shims. Original Bertha was
110 ft + with 11 ft in the ground, had mounting plates every 7 ft.
Telrex would not give out any dimensions or drwaings, when I needed
foundation tube, they send me quotation :-). I made notes about dimensions,
they are somwhere in the boxes. The bottom part was 14" OD 40ft piece,
foundation sleeve was 18" OD 1/2" wall 11' long.
