Been running same beam here for a few years without that kind of problem.
Use 1500W most of the time. Take a look at the length situation on your
beam.
maybe just a little off on the driven element will cause the problem. Do
your tuning
at low power. Adjust the length for the cw portion of the band where the
duty cycle is worst.
