Another, possibly additional, approach is to pigtail a cable on the rotator
with the connector.  That way, you can bench test the rotator.  That's three
sets of connectors, though, and may stress some folks' sensibilities.

As for the trailer connectors, they are not limited to Yaesu rotators or
other 4-6 conductor apparatus...You can use two connectors for 8-conductor
cables (e.g., Ham-x rotators).  Just reverse the pairs so they cannot be
interconnected (M>F, F>M).
