[TowerTalk] Re: Rotator choices today?

Below is my original request from the group. I got an enormous
amount of information! (This reflector is the best!). Thanks to
all who replied, as I truly appreciate it.

The general concensus is that the M2 2800 and the Big Boy would
handle anything that I would throw on to my tower. There were a few
questions about the Big Boys long term reliability and parts availability,
so for now, I've decided to steer clear of them.

Next, the Yaesu line of rotators did not get too many favorable
reviews by the group. Mostly due to the plastic gears and reliability.

Finally, I was very surprised at how many said to go ahead with the
Tailtwister, that it should handle what I need to do. I may try this option
first, as I will have the mast supported with double thrust bearings, and
changing the rotator won't be a big hassle. Other ideas included keeping
the Ham IV I have for the side-mounted C-3. I forgot about that!

Thanks again for the wealth of info, and Happy New Year to all!!
