Someone had a good suggestion of having a long mast for some twisting torque
cushion. I do that just to get the twisting torque also lower in the tower
and I used telescoping pipes for another beam above. I have a slick
technique for raising and securing it. He mention that the pipes he
suggested and could be telescoped and cross bolted. Cross bolts holes always
enlarge. I would suggest also epoxying or welding the joint.
One other comment I can't resist is that with a Prop-Pitch Motor, you don't
need any of all these long masts, Hardy disks or Harley accessories and all
the other "band aids" that are needed for rotors that are too small for the
job. They are designed to fail in about 5 years with the recommended load.
Buy the one above the one recommended or get a prop-pitch and install it
properly. This has become a Worry Wart Web for "deficiently designed
equipment" designed only to separate you from your money on a regular basis.
You are being constantly fleeced. I paid $5 for a prop pitch I still use
over 50 years later as its "over designed" for the job. Did you ever notice
there are NO Web Sites for "over designed equipment". I speed them up also.
I'd like to start a mass movement for "Over or Properly Designed Equipment
Society." It will put the "tight budget mfgs" out of business. No web site
will be needed other than to brag about the "ZERO maintenance" they have.
Collins Equipment was like that. I have a Collins KW-1 that I replaced only
one part and like wise in a 75A1--in over 45 years. I realize this is a
concept totally unknown concept today but it actually did exit years ago. I
got into Quality Assurance Professionally as I knew what that was like at one
time and wasn't seeing it any more. The Zenith Floor and Table Radios of the
30's were a classic example of this. There were a lot of other good products
like cars back then. Most everything else is pure junk now designed to fail
sooner or later--mostly sooner. We need a platform of "Freedom
>From Band-Aids"-- except those from J&J. That's a concept the candidates for
presidents could run on and win big time. This wholesale rip off will
continue until customers refuse to buy it. We need another recession. That
usually cleans house. Buyers remember who ripped them off and they fold. We
need more with "good memories." K7GCO.
