I think part of what ARRL wants to back up gain data
are actual antenna range data, etc; expensive and
time consuming to generate. Computer modeling
is not accepted as valid evidence for gain performance
by the ARRL, as far as I know.
Jim, as I understood it, the ARRL allows advertising of antennas so
long as the vendor submits a valid computer model so that performance
figures can be verified by ARRL engineers. I assume that so far no vendors
want to make their models public for competitive reasons.
