I use BEL-RAY waterproof grease. Available at just about any off-road
motoring store. It's used in jet-skies and snowmobiles and other
vehicles.
It is supposed to be good to -20 deg F.

Gear splindles 10SAE should be fine. Or another HQ oil to inhibit rust.
Only the gear teeth get grease! Unless you want to slow it down...
