I want to second Mark's indeedy! I thought about this for a long time,
having a 550 ft run to the tower and then 70+ more feet up the tower. I
made loss charts and graphs for all the coaxes and played with the loss
calculator on the timesmicrowave.com web site. Despite all my friends'
stories of "free" CATV hardline, I could never secure more than about
100 feet of it. I finally used Bury Flex buried from the shack to my
main grounds, LMR600DB for the long run to the tower, and BuryFlex for
the run up the tower.
Steve Davis was VY FB to deal with on the phone, and went out of his way
to help me get my order pronto. Steve will ship to hams with the
promise of a check in the mail. He inadvertently sent me way more
Bury-Flex than I needed. He said to take my time as my tower project
wasn't complete, and then send back whatever I didn't use and only pay
for what I used. I ended up paying for the whole spool and keeping what
I didn't use immediately for future projects, friends, etc.
