One thing everyone should do is look at the feedpoint. Some
beams use the worse feed-systems on the planet. Mosely is guilty
of that, where they ground one half on the element in some models
along with the shield, and feed the other element.
When you do that, not only is the pattern a bit skewed but the
traps on each element half don't share anywhere near the current
and voltage on the other side!
That hurts performance and power capability.
You'd even be amazed at how unbalanced a gamma match can
make the antenna.
