Your premise is impossible to prove. Scientifically, you can only say
that a small increase in antenna gain of a db or 2 ,and/or a little less
loss in your feedline, cannot hurt you, and may help. Adding 5 or more db
is beneficial. A db is such a small quantity that many hams cannot even
perceive the change and most that can will only just barely perceive it.
For instance: switching from a ground plane at 30 ft. to a Lazy H at 30
ft. at the bottom, 60 ft. at the top gives one a taste of a 10 db change.
Its "impressive." 5 db is worthwhile. 1-2 db, while perceptable, isn't
likely to do anything concrete for you, and if it does, it will be just
