[TowerTalk] Rotator

I used a T2X for about 5 years. While it always did the job, there are two
built-in problems with it:

1. No brake delay. You can easily add one - in fact the ARRL handbook has
a circuit for it.
2. The brake tends to jam and can sometimes be hard to free up. Rocking
the motor back and forth always did it eventually, but sometimes it took a
LONG time and was always very annoying.

Both are design errors that should have been corrected decades ago. It is
inexcusable that they haven't been. Pause for a moment and think of the
implication that there is a fault so common and so annoying that the ARRL
has to publish a fix for it in the handbook. When I first got my T2X in
1992 I wrote several letters to Hy-Gain complaining about the poor design
and warning them to either fix it pronto or get ready for serious
competition. Guess which one happened?
