    I think you're referring to a lanyard; a climbing belt is commonly used 
to refer to the part that goes around you. In this case you're looking for a 
positioning lanyard - the part that goes around the tower and holds you in a 
'work' position. 

    Yes, the 3-6 footer is the best. 45G is about 4-feet around so this would 
do it as well as allow you to work on 25G (3-feet around) and other tower 
configurations. Champion Radio Products has a basic friction 3-6 foot
