Would it then be fair to describe the shape as like a
tuning fork -- the handle being the open wire feed?

In the vertical position how would it compare side-by-side
with a very narrow (tall) rectangular "quad"?  (roughly the 
same overall dimensions)

I do not yet have a copy of EZNEC (went to download the huge
demo but severe t-storms the past several evenings have deterred 
me), and I imagine the learning curve will take some time.
