I am the possessor of a Cushcraft A-4 with a 40 meter kit which I recently
refurbished and set back to factory cw spec. I am looking for a response by
anyone who has run a computer model on this particular antenna and who would
be willing to share it with me for the good of the order.
We set the A-4 up for the Field Day cw station at W5NC (2A, South Texas,
QSL?) at about 30 feet. At Cushcraft spec for cw, it resonated below the
band on all bands, so I shortened it a skosh at some of the joints.
Ultimately it resonated close enough to the cw portion of the band to where
it could be tuned with the internal tuner. It seemed to play well, and we
did received reports as being loud a number of times.
This is the first time I have used this particular antenna. It is large,
unwieldy and very flimsy, though it does pack nicely and might be suitable
for a Dxpedition, so I would like it to play well.
Regards,
Madison
