There is a 3-point check for lanyard attachment. And I always do it in this
order.

1. LISTEN. You want to hear the lanyard clip as it snaps into place with
the metal to metal sound.

2. FEEL. You feel the lanyard connection with your fingers to make sure it
feels correctly clipped to the D-ring.

3. LOOK. You turn slightly so you can see the clip attached to the D-ring.
(hard to do if you are fat guy like me, but it is do-able).

Now you are ready to work.
