We've been around this track before, but for newer readers -- and very much
depending on your homeowner insurance company and where you live -- there
*may* be a cheaper alternative. When I priced umbrella policies, I was
told that 95 percent of the premium was driven by automotive risk, and that
I could increase the liability limit on my homeowner's policy (which
includes my tower as an "accessory structure") much more cheaply. In fact,
the cost of raising it to $2 million was only $16/year in this state (WV).
