FYI Under AISC ASD 9ed The steel code used by EIA/TIA-222-F (which
incidentally Rohn does not always follow) The factor of safety for columns
under compression varies from 5/3 to 23/12, However there is an allowable
stress increase of 33% therefor the 'real' factors of safety range from 5/4
to 23/16 with the lower number being for shorter members and the large number
for longer members (length refers to relative length of the member). So
actual Rohn specs range from 83% to 70% of the yield for the material. Just
some food for thought.
