Straight from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (excluding power
line equipment) the following can cause interference:
doorbell or chime transformers electric blankets
heating pads fish tank heaters and pumps
    light dimmer switches photocell lights
flashing decorative lights refrigerator butter keepers
(thermostat)
ultrasonic pest control devices furnace thermostats
fluorescent lights and starters mercury vapor lamps
microwave or conventional ovens appliance switches (dishwashers, etc.)
    water bed heaters sun lamps
    video games electrical toys
    smoke detectors electric fans
loose fuses or breakers neon signs
    small motors electric fences
sewing machines air conditioners and purifiers
bottle warmers & baby wipe warmers germicidal lamps
    ultra-violet lamps water heaters
sign flash gas range and dryer igniters
    gas furnace blowers garbage disposals
    door opener transmitters scanner receivers
home elevators car and truck ignitions
green plugs cash registers, calculators, adding
                                    machines
"The device must be disconnected from its power source, not just turned
off!"

Many of the above items seem obvious to us, some are not. The above was
compiled by Paul Charbonneau, W6BZH, Interference Inspector,
Telecommunications Section, Information Technology Services, Business Unit of
the Los Angeles City Department of Water & Power, phone 213-367-8292.

He also cites Part 15 FCC Rules and Regulations: "It is unlawful to generate
electrical interference that prevents reception of commercial broadcasting or
two-way communication. It is also unlawful to place such interference,
willingly or unknowlingly, on the lines of a public utility."

Hope this helps. Jeff, K6TFZ
