[TowerTalk] xxx ton

Since you posted this to the list...

If you could see the long stream of spam and stuff that comes in and
bounces, you would understand.

It is a never-ending battle to keep a list somewhere on the same planet
as "on-topic". Every list manager has to draw a line somewhere or suffer
the degenerations seen on Usenet. Snagging words is one of a number of
tools used in lieu of outright moderation where every message is passed
on by a moderator(s) before it posts to the list.

If every post were allowed, the most-read technical lists would peppered
with ads, requests of all kinds, though certainly valid and harmless in
and of themselves, mostly because people knew the list had a lot of
readers. Then, of course, the list would loose it's usefulness to those
who frequented the list for technical purposes.

The general on-topic nature of this list is one of the main reasons that
it attracts and keeps the *participating* expertise that it has.

For the sake of maintaining the valuable resource that it is, I support
the list admin in whatever he can do to keep the list somewhere on
Planet On-Topic.

BTW, if there is a ham who knows what a stackmatch is and who knows
where the USA's biggest ham expo is, you can bet they would expect you
to be there without needing something to tell them. You sell yourself
short.
