Why is it that when an antenna is discussed factually, rather than 
emotionally or empirically, we consider it giving an antenna a "bad 
rap?

No one said quads won't radiate and receive as well as a yagi if 
both are properly constructed. Saying there is little difference or no 
difference isn't an insult. 

Virtually all of the biggest amateur stations in the world use yagi's, 
and virtually of the commercial services that use parasitic arrays 
use yagi's. It's actually quite a compliment to be considered on-par 
with a workhorse like a yagi, not an insult.
