Hi Philip,
There is a lot more than just a hinge to a Rohn foldover tower. If you have
not seen one, you need to get a Rohn Catalog that has a picture of the
foldover in it. There is a major "backbone" part that bolts onto the tower
and the cable attaches to it. There is also a a winch and some special
hardware. Incidentally, I have never seen a Rohn 20G as a foldover nor have
I ever heard of a foldover 20G being offered by Rohn. It may not be strong
enough for this application. I would be very careful with this.
If you just want to hinge the tower at some distance above the ground and
you don't need the winch or the brace that stiffens the tower at the hinge,
you could consider mounting a flat plate (BPL25G) on the 20G where you want
to hinge it and mounting a hinged base (BPH25G) on top of the flat plate.
This will get you a hinged 20G tower, but I am still not sure you really
want to do this . . .
Incidentally, I checked with Rohn last week to confirm the rumor I heard
that they have discontinued foldover kits for 25G and 45G. Yep, they have
discontinued them. No reasons were given and they have none in stock. They
may still offer complete foldover towers . . . I don't know about that.
25G, 45G, and 55G torque bars are, once again, a thing of the past, too.
I have a couple of sets of 25G torque bars in stock . . .
