Hi Tony,

I use galvanized saddles with SS U-bolts.  Yeah, I know that you are not
supposed to use dissimilar metals, but with some penatrox on the saddles and
the u-bolts, this seems to hold up well.

I personally feel the extra support and tighter clamp that results from
using saddles even with a dissimilar metal, more than outweighs any
potential risk of oxidizing.

BTW, you can try a "chemistry experiment" to prove this to yourself.

Bolt a galvanized saddle to a SS U-bolt, with SS nuts and lockwashers.  Coat
everything with a thin film of penatrox.  Leave it out ALL winter in a place
where the rain/snow can drain away, and in the Spring you will see very
little if any rust or oxidation.
