Hi Folks,
Recently acquired a modest tower/tribander/rotor combo from a SK's widow.
The rotor has a TR-44 control box(label on back says TR-4 series2) but the
rotor is not a TR-44 bell housing. It looks more like the Ham -M series.
That is it has a larger bottom than the AR-22/ TR-44 series. Is this a brake
housing? No markings on the bottom of the rotor other than a SN 601 stamped
in it. I'm about to split the case and check the bearing race for the number
of bearings. I seem to remember the Ham-m series had 98 ball bearings
instead 48? Any other way of knowing?
BTW the tower is also a off brand? It's a standard 3-legged 10'
straight-sections painted 1 & 1/4" tubular steel design. It has horizontal
tubular cross members spaced every 2'. These tubular cross pieces are
flattened and bent where they are welded to the legs. My guess it's at least
25-30 years old. No series signs of rust!! Colorado dry air here! Any ideas
on MFG name? Type? I had to leave a chunk buried in the ground where we cut
it down. Used a heavy sledge hammer on it and to no avail could I break the
welds on the cross members ...very strong and stout stuff! Oh, and the beam
is a TA-33 and suprisingly in great shape except for some cracked stand
offs. Does Mosley still sell parts?
Thanks! Steve/n0tu
