[TowerTalk] Grid dip meters & making stubs

Hi Bill,

Tnx for your response.

Actually I have used my MFJ 259 to make many 1/2 wave coaxial lines for
phasing yagis and 1/4 wave lines for verticals. I originally bought the 259
coils to grid dip coaxial lines when a Tech at MFJ told me how well they
worked with RG213 (he was WRONG! and later admitted that he never even tried
to use it himself on RG213!). That was quite a disappointment especially
since $32.95 later I still had to use the MFJ 259 to determine the correct
lengths and it was cumbersome to use with a 50 ohm resistor. The MFJ 259
though measures pretty accurately and aside from the BC concerns that Tom,
W8JI and Tom, N1MM pointed out, it is what I have used.

I just thought that an actual GDO might be easier and more efficient to use
for this purpose, but the comments of those who responded (thank you!) make
it clear to stick with the MFJ 259 for this purpose.

Thanks guys!
