Is Mr. Muntz the "M" in MFJ by chance? We had a Muntz TV- it worked great 
when it was tuned off- had it's problems when left on-  Although it never 
seemed to be around for long- stayed in the shop a lot. But the Life Magazine 
ads for the TV's were great:  

Muntz TV's "Wipe Out Nearby Adjacent TV Signals from Cuba",  "Eliminate All 
Ghost Images from Spuntnik", "Better Than a Nortre Dame Wide Receiver for 
Reception!"  "Will Survive "THE HIT",  Direct!!!!" etc.............
