[TowerTalk] ATAS-100 as base antenna...

You did not say which radio you owned but if it is the Yaesu 847 or 100
it auto tunes the antenna.  I have done two different experiments with
this antenna outside of its car environment:  experiment one on a 2 x 2
steel plate with 4 66 foot radials running from it on the ground; the
antenna tuned fine all bands just fine.  Experiment two:  is mounted on
a 2 x 2 foot air conditioning case with two radials approximately 60
feet long run inside the apartment.  I know this goes against
conventional thinking, but it tunes 40 and 20 fine, and refuses to tune
10 or 15! When it was running on the ground, I worked California from
New York.  So have fun experimenting with it and you might mention which
radio you are going to use with it.  There is a company that will allow
you to raise and lower the antenna by using an external box so you could

You do not need a tuner with the ATAS-100 antenna....A tuner matches the

radio to a non resonant antenna....with the ATAS-100 you make the
antenna 
resonant to the frequency you have the radio tuned to.  The antenna
should
